Clik here to view.ADAM McPhee is set to pull the pin on his AFL career as early as Monday despite signing a one year contract extension with Fremantle last month.
The news comes just one day after the club announced that it had delisted Nick Lower, Dylan Roberton and Jesse Crichton.
The West Australian reports that McPhee, who is currently overseas on holiday, has decided to return to Melbourne for family reasons.
It’s not the first time the club has lost McPhee. The Dockers gave the defender his AFL start in 2001 when he was taken with pick 39 in the 2000 draft.
He played 25 games for Fremantle before requesting a trade back home to Victoria in 2003 where he clocked up 142 games for Essendon including the 2004 Best and Fairest award.
After failing to come to terms with Essendon on a new contract at the end of the 2010 season, McPhee made a move back west and linked up with his original club.
The former All Australian has played 56 games in his final two season with Fremantle, including a near best on ground effort in the elimination final against Geelong , to take his total AFL games to 223.
McPhee is expected to inform Dockers coach Ross Lyon on Monday of his decision.
